Our Annual Photographic Competition challenges budding and amateur photographers to capture their highlights of the park during their visit.

The 2014 competition includes some new categories. Prizes are awarded to the winning entrants.

Whether you’re a young enthusiast or a seasoned snapper, this is your chance to take your best shot!

2014 Photography competition entry rules:

1. Anything from the park is eligible; prints may be colour or black and white.
2. Entrants can submit one photo in each monthly subject.
3. Entrants must not be professional photographers and, for the purposes of this competition, a professional photographer will be considered to be someone who makes more than half their annual income from the sale of their photographs.
4. Each entry should be marked with name, age, address, contact telephone number along with the month subject it would like to be entered in.
5. By entering the competition all entrants grant to South Lakes Safari Zoo the right to publish and exhibit their photographs in the Park and on their website.
6. South Lakes Safari Zoo reserves the right to cancel this competition or alter any of the rules at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.

• March - Birds
• April - Carnivores
• May - Savannah Animals
• June - Mammals
• July - Herbivores
• August - Primates
• September - Big Cats
• October - Rainforest Animals
• November - Interactive hand feedings
• December - Winter at the park

We will also choose a winner from the below categories

• Best photo taken by a visitor
• Best photo taken by a visitor under 16
• Best photo sent in by a school visitor
• Best funny caption photo

Judging Criteria

• Entries will be judged by a panel of South Lakes staff. All decisions made are final. Closing date 31.12.2014

Winners’ Prizes & Publicity

• A winner will be selected from each monthly subject along with one winner from each of our extra categories.
• Winning entries will displayed around the park and may be used for publicity purposes.
• Best photo by a visitor prizes will include unique hands on animal encounters
• School visitor prize will be a free trip for a class of up to 30 children must be taken before 31/12/15

How to enter

You can enter one photo to each monthly subject by sending your entries to gemmawood@wildanimalpark.co.uk, please state which month you would like your photo to enter in the subject bar.

Please supply your name, age and contact details.

If you are a teacher sending on behalf of your pupils please include the school name.
