Safari Zoo News
So what else is different with CZCL ... Diets ...
We have always had tremendous support from local supermarkets donating out of date fruit & veg.
However with an ever growing collection of animals and ever changing dietary needs Cumbria Zoo put funds in place to increase to twice weekly deliveries from a wholesale supplier.
All our diets were sent off to international zoo specialists for them to check so we knew what we were feeding was right.
This means our animal carers can provide the best for the animals in their care.
Life’s a beach for Hollie. Hollie (Pictured Above) and the rest of the Safari Zoo Humboldt Penguins have just had their annual health check. Safari Zoo vet department together with specialist vets checked the bird’s weights, feet and overall health and gave each individual a clean “bill” of health. Penguin keepers took advantage of the time to redesign and do some work in the enclosure to create a new sand beach and pebbled area for the group.
Playtime For Huubke & Mosi
Safari Zoo animal carers are always looking for ways to stimulate and improve the environment of the animals under their care. We enrich animals environments by making changes in their enclosures or presenting novel objects for them to investigate and explore. This keeps animals active and stimulates animals like our White Rhino here to investigate and interact with their surroundings. Male Huubke is 21 and Mosi our Christmas newborn calf just 2 months old.
