Mitred conures are a smaller species of parrot with long tails. They are green with red flecks and spots on the head and thighs, and have white eye rings. Some adults have one or two red feathers where the wing bends. They are very social and are normally seen in flocks. These flocks can be large, numbering around 100 individuals, and flocks of around 2,000 have been seen at roosting places. They nest colonially.
