Glossy ibises are a striking ibis species because of their green reflective wings. In the light, these wing feathers appear to be multiple colours. The rest of their feathers are reddish-brown, or duller if they are juveniles/non-breeders. They also have pale beaks and legs. They tend not to stay in one place after the breeding season, often moving locations. They are social and often travel in large flocks. They also roost in flocks, which are often mixed species. They forage in shallow water, hunting for whatever small creatures they can find.
